As a parent of a newborn, you know how quickly those first days pass—tiny fingers, sleepy smiles, and tender moments that deserve more than just snapshots. As your Seattle newborn photographer at Lilac & Ivy Photography, I create timeless, artistic portraits that celebrate the beauty and connection of this fleeting stage. With a gentle, intentional approach, I capture the quiet details—the curve of a cheek, a tiny hand in yours, the peace of a newborn’s slumber—turning them into evocative works of art. These portraits are more than photos; they’re heirlooms that tell your baby’s story and preserve the immense love that welcomed them into the world.
Begin Your Experience
How often do you pause to capture the pure, unadulterated beauty of this newborn stage? You deserve more than just quick snapshots; you deserve timeless, artistic portraits that encapsulate the magic of your baby's first days.
Newborn sessions are about crafting something truly extraordinary. Together, we'll transform the delicate beauty and profound connection you share with your baby into an artistic expression that transcends the ordinary. With natural, lifestyle poses and prompts and no crazy photoshop, you'll walk away with beautiful portraits that feel like real life.

Family is a staple of the lifestyle approach I take - no crazy poses or photoshop necessary to capture the love a family shares. You and your partner and any siblings belong all together for your portraits. You'll never regret getting these poignant photos together.
I usually book newborn portraits within 2 weeks of birth, preferably in home or at a studio. However, all babies are cute babies and I'm happy to capture your baby at any age that feels right.
Harsh sunlight is typically too much for babies' eyes, which is why I don't encourage outdoor sessions for this age.
I'm so glad you asked! I offer a growing client closet for mothers, plus a few options for small siblings. Normally, these dresses by brands like Nothing Fits But, Doen, and Worth Collective cost hundreds of dollars - but you can wear these for your session at no extra cost.
From my own experience with my son, I know flexibility is a must for scheduling newborn sessions. I will reschedule based on your babies birth day, one of the benefits of taking only a few clients each month is flexibility for your special moment.
For every session I hold, I send an email with a list of amazing makeup artist professionals who can create natural and neutral looks that won't overpower your gorgeous face. I highly recommend hiring a makeup artist, but if that's not your preference, I've also included DIY tips to make your portraits shine.
For newborn portraits, I am happy to travel to a local photography studio or your home! I recommend booking in the morning or in the late afternoon for the best lighting.

If you've taken a look around and love my photos then let's work together! Just fill out the contact form to get all the information about my collection options and see recent full galleries of my work.
When you're ready to reserve your session, you'll pay your sitting fee. This covers the time in front of the camera and access to client closet and planning.
Once you are booked, you'll receive a questionnaire so I can learn more about you and your little family. This will help us plan the perfect session and get all the photos you've dreamed of!
It's time to relax and enjoy. Whether your newborn photoshoot is at the studio or your own home. This is where you get to be happy and joyful while loving on your new addition.
When photographing in Seattle, I usually aim to shoot in the morning, when most kids are in the best mood. When traveling outside the city I like to aim for 10 AM.
Two weeks after our session you'll receive your online slideshow to review your photos and purchase your collection.
Every collection includes a set amount of digital files and two collections include complimentary print credit to get started displaying your favorite photos.
I always recommend doing this early in your second trimester, to ensure that we have availability on our calendar. Most families also reserve their Seattle newborn photography session at the same time, too!

I photograph outdoors from March to October, during which I highly recommend Volunteer Park, Washington Park Arboretum, the UW Campus for Cherry Blossoms and am happy to travel to your favorite location or even your home! I recommend booking in the morning or in the late afternoon for most of my locations.
