Hey friend!
Let’s talk about cherry blossoms at the UW Quad—aka Seattle’s most beautiful (and most chaotic) springtime hotspot. You’ve probably seen those dreamy, fairytale-like photos of families twirling under the pink blossoms, looking like they have the whole place to themselves. Magical, right? But here’s the secret: those photos were taken at the crack of dawn.
I know, I know—early mornings aren’t exactly a mom’s best friend. (Coffee first, right?) But hear me out:
By mid-morning, the Quad is packed. Think shoulder-to-shoulder tourists, students, and about 67 other photographers trying to do exactly what we’re doing. If you’ve got a little one who loves to wander, this can quickly turn into a game of “Where’s my kid?” instead of “Let’s get gorgeous photos.”
I can work magic making a dreary day still look beautiful, but I can’t Photoshop dozens of people out of the background while keeping your family looking flawless. The earlier we go, the more likely it is that the only background distractions are, well… actual cherry blossoms.
There’s a secret photography turf war. Okay, no actual wars, but photographers do stake out their spots early, and space gets tight fast. The last thing I want is for you to feel rushed or squished into a tiny corner because another family is waiting right behind you.
Think of the benefits of a morning session: golden, soft, and oh-so-flattering light. Morning light makes skin tones glow and turns those pink blossoms into an absolute dream. Plus, the air is crisp, the birds are chirping, and you’ll feel like you’ve got a secret VIP pass to the prettiest place in Seattle.
So yes, we’re waking up early—but I promise, it’s 1000% worth it. You’ll have a relaxed, magical experience, and you’ll be able to walk away before the crowds roll in, feeling like you just had the Quad all to yourself.
Now, let’s book that sunrise session and make some magic! ☀️✨
