The Lilac and Ivy Photography Process

Inquiry

This is the first contact we will share. I recommend including your vision for your experience with me and including as much about your family (including whether or not you want to include pets!) After you submit my contact form, you’ll recieve an automatic email from hello@lilacandivyphotography within a few hours (unless it’s midnight in which case I am asleep and will send it in the AM), if you do not recieve it in your inbox please search your spam/junk box. This email includes my investment and welcome guide, which offers a clear, detailed overview of the experience. From that email, you’ll be able to easily schedule a brief 15-minute phone call so I can get to know you, learn about your family, and personalize your session from the very beginning.

Phone Call

During our call we will discuss all the details, believe it or not we will accomplish this in 10-15 minutes. I answer all your questions. Following our phone call, you’ll receive a private booking link with the date and time we discussed. From there, you’ll sign your contract and pay the sitting fee to officially reserve your session. Everything is handled online to keep the process simple and stress-free.

Questionnaire

Once your session is confirmed, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a short questionnaire. This helps me understand your family dynamics, your children’s personalities, and what you hope to preserve most. These details allow me to photograph your family with intention and care.

Five Days Prior

You’ll receive a helpful packing guide designed to remove last-minute stress and ensure you feel prepared. It’s a simple checklist to support a smooth, calm session day.

Seven and Three Days Prior

Gentle reminders will be sent with your session date, time, and location so everything stays top of mind. No scrambling, no second-guessing, just ease.

The Session Date

Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early. This allows time for parking, small outfit adjustments, adding or removing layers, and gathering everything you’ll need before walking to the session location. When I arrive, I’ll text or call you so we can meet and begin right on time.

The Day After Your Photoshoot

The day after your photoshoot, you’ll be sent a link to schedule your ordering appointment. My turnaround for photos is 14 days, and my scheduler will have a minimum of 14 days. The earlier you go to schedule, the sooner you’ll be able to view the photos. However, you’ll want to schedule on the day you intend to make a purchase or begin a payment plan. Once you’ve made decisions, I’ll send over an invoice for the payment plan, or you can purchase the items directly from your gallery if you’d like to pay in full.

The ordering appointment

The ordering appointment is where you make your purchases. During the ordering appointment via Zoom, your team of financial decision makers (probably you and your partner) will watch a slideshow of your portraits set to music, after which you’ll order your custom artwork. Please plan to spend approximately an hour, so we can order things as you please. All financial decision makers must be at this appointment, or we will need to reschedule the ordering appointment.
