Spring in Seattle feels hopeful and full of fresh energy. Blossoms begin to appear, the parks turn green again, and children seem to grow overnight. It is one of the most popular seasons for updating family photos, and many families begin searching for Shoreline family photos once the first signs of spring arrive. But Seattle weather can be unpredictable. Rain, chilly wind, and muddy grass can make outdoor sessions tricky, especially with little ones.
That is exactly why I love offering springtime studio sessions. Available now through May 30th, 2026, these sessions take place in a bright indoor space filled with warm west facing light, soft textures, and beautifully styled sets that reflect the feeling of spring. Families can relax in a calm, comfortable environment where kids can move freely and parents do not have to worry about cold weather or muddy shoes. The biggest perk is wonderfully simple: no mud.
Studio sessions also create the soft, luminous look families hope for when planning Shoreline family photos. Light layers, linen dresses, cozy knits, and gentle spring colors photograph beautifully in the space, and my wardrobe guide helps you coordinate outfits with ease. Spring is a season that passes quickly, especially with young children. A peaceful studio session is a lovely way to pause for a moment and preserve the joy of this chapter together.

Hi, I’m Mercae (pronounced Mer-say), a neurodivergent Seattle mother to one wild preschooler boy and a family, maternity and newborn photographer. I am deeply passionate about providing parents with tangible reminders of their families connection and love story because of my own challenging first years as a mother. Looking up at the wall, seeing myself at the heart of my beautiful family brings me so much light and joy and made even the toughest days of postpartum depression bearable. I know it can help other parents both in the moment of the session, taking time to be together, and after, when it comes time to mount their photos on the wall or thumb through their album again. These Spring sessions take place in a decorated photography studio I rent in Shoreline, which means every corner works beautifully for portraits. Warm west-facing natural light pours into the room throughout the day, creating the soft, glowing look that makes family photos feel dreamy and timeless. Contemporary furniture, interesting rooflines, and thoughtfully styled sets create a space that feels elegant while still relaxed enough for little ones.
Kids can move, cuddle with their parents, or explore a little while I gently guide the session. The result is the same play-driven storytelling my outdoor sessions are known for, just in a cozy indoor setting. Studios are great for privacy, quiet, and keeping littles cozy without weather concerns.
Studio sessions at this location offer a few lovely advantages, especially for families with young children.
The studio is designed to make visits simple for families. Inside the studio, you’ll find a dressing room, restrooms, and plenty of space to settle in before your session begins. To keep the space clean and beautiful, street shoes are removed upon entry, and families simply change into their photo shoes once inside.
Spring studio sessions are available now through May 30th, 2026, while the seasonal sets are installed.
If you’ve been dreaming about soft, light-filled family portraits but would rather skip muddy fields and unpredictable weather, a spring studio session is the perfect solution.
Spring is such a fleeting season of childhood. Capturing it in a warm, light-filled space might be the coziest way to remember it.

Wardrobe plays a big role in creating those dreamy, cohesive images. The good news is that spring studio sessions are one of the easiest to dress for. Soft colors work beautifully in this environment. Think creams, sage green, dusty blue, soft florals, oatmeal, or pale blush. These tones reflect light gently and keep the overall look calm and airy.
Flowing fabrics photograph especially well. Dresses with movement, linen shirts, light knits, and simple textures add dimension without overwhelming the image. I always recommend avoiding very bold patterns, large logos, or neon colors, which can distract from the connection between family members.
Every family that books a session receives my comprehensive wardrobe guide, which walks you through exactly how to coordinate outfits for the entire family. It includes helpful color palettes, styling examples, and tips for dressing toddlers and babies. PLUS, during our initial conversation, we will go over how to achieve the style you’re after, and I’ll text ideas to help you. Plus, ongoing support to achieve the look you’re after.
The goal is to make the process feel supported and straightforward so you can focus on enjoying the experience.
